Sacramento Valley Affiliate Reaches Milestone Year: For 2007 / 2008, The Sacramento Valley Affiliate will grant over $1 million to 24 local organizations helping to fund early detection, education and supportive services related to breast health.

The promise of Susan G. Komen for the Cure is to save lives and end breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring quality care for all, and energizing science to find the cures. Affiliates of Komen for the Cure represent one of the nation’s largest private funding sources for breast health and breast cancer screening, education, treatment and support programs.

Small Grant Program


The Sacramento Valley Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure offers small grants for up to $5,000 to non-profit (federally-exempt) organizations in the following three categories:
  • Pilot Project Grant: An innovative project with no more than a term of six months specific in the areas of breast health and breast cancer education, outreach, screening, and treatment support services.
  • Conference Grant: An event, conference, symposia specific to breast health or to help further the body of knowledge related to research, diagnosis, treatment, education, and/or other issues related to breast cancer.
  • Travel Grant: Travel assistance to attend, participate in, and/or present at a conference or symposia that would increase the community knowledge of breast health and breast cancer. Travel Grants are issued as a reimbursement of travel expenses up to the approved dollar amount upon submission of receipts and expense report.

Small grant requests are accepted year-round and should follow the small grants application format.

Major Grant Program:


The Komen Sacramento Valley Affiliate offers grants from $10,000 to $75,000 for innovative projects in the areas of breast health and breast cancer education, outreach, screening, and treatment support targeting services not otherwise available to the medically underserved and multicultural populations of the Sacramento Valley Affiliate service area, which include the 945 (east of Vallejo), 952, 953, 956, 957 (south of Soda Springs), 958 or 959 Zip Code areas.

Major grant requests are accepted only once a year (please see community grant schedule). Grants are available for only a one (1) year term.
