Carol serves as First Vice President on the Board of Directors for the Komen Sacramento Affiliate. She is responsible for training Komen volunteers for the many breast health awareness, education and fund raising activities the Affiliate participates in throughout the year.
Throughout her health care career Carol has maintained a passion for making a difference in how a patient and his or her family cope with a diagnosis of cancer and its treatment. For a number of years, she worked for the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, Maryland and directed 3 major national programs: the Cancer Information Service; the award winning Breast Cancer Education Program; and the Public Inquiries and Health Communications Office. She continues to provide counseling, education and support to women who have just received a diagnosis of breast cancer.
Carol holds degrees in education, nursing and counseling psychology. She is currently working as a health care consultant in Sacramento and has had projects with Sutter Health, the UC Davis Cancer Center and the Health Communications Research Institute.
